Program description
In this program, we provide participants with a basic and an advanced introduction to mathematical modeling of biological phenomena with special focus on population dynamics. Topics on dynamical system including difference equations, ordinary differential equations: theory and application, partial differential equations, and stochastic dynamics, etc., will be given. In addition to lectures, participants will also work on exercises about numerical simulations and develop skills to solve mathematical models numerically using python. A certificate will be offered for participants who complete the program. On Saturday 21, we organize a social event where Indonesian students and NWU students socialize with each other. Farewell party will be also organize to close the program.
As a post-program event, we organize a meeting on Sunday 22 where NWU participants reflect and discuss about their participation to this program, and take a shape toward internationalized study and research.
English is official language in this program.
Organization
The program will be organized with 6 working days (Day 1 through 6) with social events. On Day 1 through 5, lectures on mathematical modeling are given in the morning. In the afternoon, participants work on numerical simulation of the models they learned in the morning. Mini-symposia are also organized to present and discuss mathematical modeling in general. Social events will be organized on Day 6 (Saturday 21) where NWU students and Indonesian students socialize with each other. As a post-program event, we organize a meeting on Day 7 (Sunday 22) for NWU students.
Time schedule*
*Time schedule and topics may be subject to change. More detailed information will be added as needed.
Eligibility and prerequisites
